I find that the most difficult thing in Mandarin is remembering stroke orders in characters and the pronunciation of pin-yins and the tones they include.
Please list your goals in different areas:
Listening: I would like to be able to easily be able to tell the difference between pin-yin’s which have the same spelling yet different tones and pronunciation.
Oral: I would like to be able to have a proper conversation in mandarin without frequent pauses.
Reading: I would like to be able to read books without relying on the pictures to tell me what is going on in the book.Character Writing: I would like to be able to write characters using their proper stroke orders.
Classroom participation: I would like to be able participate even more in class discussion or activities, as sometimes I am not able to answer the question being asked.
For achieving my goal, I would like to do:
Listening: Whenever learning a new word, I will try to make the tones just as an important part to the word itself. Oral: I will practice the conversations shown in the workbook and try and learn/memorize any key factors.
Reading: I will read basic mandarin picture books at home, each time trying to not to look at the pictures as much as possible.Character Writing: Whenever writing characters I will try to use the correct stroke order, not rushing by doing it in any order. This will help me to memorize the stroke order.
Classroom participation: I will try to put as much thought and effort into my blog as possible. This will help me to learn the skills required for the next day of class, which allows me to be able to answer and discuss even more things.
